A camellia is a true must-have for any garden, especially in spring. Camellia japonica is also known as the Japanese rose. The plant originates from China, Japan, and Vietnam, where it grows high in the mountains. It is very hardy and retains its leaves even in winter, making it ideal for the European climate. Yet, its most beautiful feature is its flowers. Camellia japonica is an early bloomer: its beautiful red flowers appear from February to May.

Care
A Camellia prefers slightly acidic soil, preferably rich in humus. During the summer, it's important to keep the soil around the plant moist. It prefers partial shade. Eventually, the Camellia grows into a large shrub, but several plants can also be planted together to form a single large shrub. Furthermore, the Camellia doesn't grow quickly, usually about 15–20 cm per year. Therefore, it's not necessary to prune the plant regularly, especially in the beginning. However, it is important to remove dead branches and spent flowers.

Size
The plant is 60–70 cm tall upon delivery, including the growing pot. It comes in a growing pot with a diameter of 19 cm.
