Muscari armeniacum, also known as grape hyacinths, is one of the most popular spring bloomers! This cheerful flower, native to Europe, Russia, and Northern Asia, marks the start of a new gardening season for many. The adorable blue flowers bloom in April and May, instantly brightening the garden. They exude a delightful fragrance and attract bees and bumblebees with their sweet aroma. The bulbs can be planted between September and November, so you can enjoy a colorful garden in spring. They are also excellent for pots, making them perfect for balconies or patios. Grape hyacinths grow to approximately 15 cm tall.
Care
Plant grape hyacinths between September and November in well-drained soil in a sunny spot. They also thrive in partial shade. If you're planting them in a pot, make sure excess water can drain properly. After the flowering period, you can simply leave the bulbs in the ground or pot. They propagate easily, resulting in more flowers each year.
